To become a member of the Wedgewood Swim Club you must fill out a membership application and mail it with a non-refundable $25.00 application fee (make checks payable to Wedgewood Swim Club, no cash please) to:

Wedgewood Swim Club membership shall not exceed 380 members to avoid overcrowding. The actual number of members is determined by the Board of Directors on a yearly basis. For many years we have had a backlog in the Membership applications. The postmark date on your application determines the position of your family on the waiting list.

Based on our recent experience, a family on the waiting list has a good chance of being accepted for membership before the current summer season.

Of course, the chance for acceptance increases the earlier the application is received. For example, if the application is received in April of the current year, then there is a good chance that the family will be accepted in the following year summer swim season. If the application is received in August of the current year, then the family may be accepted in the following summer swim season.

We realize that we are not being specific, because we cannot. Our waiting list number varies along with the turnover of families each year. Please remember that we cannot guarantee immediate membership, the above explanation is based on our past experiences.

August Membership Application:

August memberships are usually offered every year to those who are on the club waiting list as of May 30 of each year.  Only one August membership will be offered per family before accepting membership into the club. .To reiterate, only families on our waiting list will be accepted for August memberships.

For 2010 the membership fee is $180 per family (no matter how small or large the family is)

August memberships will accepted on a first come basis via a check and completed application at the club's managers office only during regular club hours. Wedgewood will be accepting 30 August  memberships per year

Obligations and Understanding: Acceptance to this August membership will permit all family members noted on the application full privileges from the first day of August through Labor Day of the target year. Each family understands that acceptance into the club for August will NOT change their current status on the waiting list. This acceptance does not guarantee that the family will be accepted for membership for the upcoming season.

Wedgewood Swim Club, located on Matlack Street in Westtown Township, is a private club owned and operated by its members since 1957 providing swimming and recreational activities for ALL FAMILY MEMBERS. There are three pools, one for swimming and diving, and adjacent wading pool for toddlers, and one for lap swimming and swim team use. The picnic grove consists of a pavilion surrounded by shade trees, numerous grills, a deck and tables providing an ideal setting for family picnics. There are also facilities for volleyball, horseshoes, shuffleboard, wall ball, basketball and other areas for various activities for children. The Wedgewood Swim Team has a history of being competitive and always provides excitement for "children" of all ages. Club membership is limited by the By-Laws to not exceed 380 family memberships. The actual number is determined on an annual basis by the Board of Directors. Openings to new families are available only upon the resignation of current members. Any opening in the membership for next season will be filled from our waiting list. New applications are processed in order of receipt. New members are notified and accepted into the Club either in the fall or in the spring after the number of openings has been determined. Wedgewood offers memberships with the annual dues based on family size. As noted below, memberships may be purchased with either bonded or non-bonded status. Bonded membership status requires the purchase of a refundable Corporation Bond worth $500. Non-bonded membership status requires an increased annual dues payment. Bonded memberships receive preference on the waiting list.  Only Bonded members are being accepted at this time.

Membership Payment Options:

Based on feedback we received in our 2009 survey, Wedgewood is now offering it's members payment of their annual dues online with a credit card.  By clicking on the link below you will be connected to a secure website that will accept payments.

There are 2 ways to pay your membership dues and any other membership costs ( such as, initiation fees, bond fees, etc). via a credit card. Discover, MasterCard and Visa cards are accepted.

Additional Membership Information

Non-Bonded memberships are no longer being accepted.

An annual work fee of $50.00 per family is charged to all members. This fee is 100% refundable for members if they contribute at least 2 hours effort in maintenance of the facilities. There are two work days before the pool opens and one in the fall after the pool closes when members have the opportunity to help the swim club and get a refund of the work fee. If a member has a specific skill, (for example, carpenter, electrician, landscaper), please send an email to the club.  We will definitely utilize your skill during one of the work days.

A nanny/babysitter may be added to a family's membership as though an additional member of the family.  Prior approval of the Board of Directors is required to add a nanny/babysitter to your membership. The 2010 cost for a babysitter is $75.00. Fill out a membership application with the Babysitter's name and send to the Wedgewood address or during the summer season, pay the fee to the manager on duty. It take a few days for the babysitter to be added to our check-in computer system.

"Non family-member children" may not be added to your membership. They may be admitted as guests.

New Member Financial Obligations:

If you wish to terminate your membership at Wedgewood, the following steps are required to obtain a refund of your bond.

Bond refunds will be mailed based on the following criteria:

According to our bylaws, we need to replace a new member's bond with the terminating family's bond.
Article 2 Section E.VII states "A member may withdraw from the Club at any time by submitting bond and written notice to the Treasurer. The face value of the Bond (minus any outstanding charges) shall be refunded when the membership is replaced. The Board, at its discretion, may purchase membership bond of resigning members at face value."
